In the world of social enterprise, mission-driven work isn't a solo sport. No organization proves that more than our partners at Trellis for Tomorrow — the community anchor that helped us go from concept to road.

In the world of social enterprise, we often say that "mission-driven work isn't a solo sport." No organization proves that more than our partners at Trellis for Tomorrow.

As we look back on the evolution of The Best Route, one thing is clear: without the vision, the network, and the unwavering support of Trellis, we wouldn't be on the road today.

From Pilot to Powerhouse

The journey began with an ARPA-funded pilot project. Trellis for Tomorrow was instrumental in navigating those early days, helping us transform a conceptual solution for food insecurity into a tangible, "farmers market on wheels." Their deep roots in the Pottstown community provided the trust and the platform we needed to bridge the "last mile" of food access.

The GROW Program: Investing in the Next Generation

Our partnership isn't just about logistics; it's about people. Every season, The Best Route hosts an intern through the Trellis GROW program.

This is a true "Double Bottom Line" success story. For us, it means having a dedicated, mission-aligned team member helping manage the truck and the farm. For the interns, it provides a real-world classroom in social enterprise, food systems, and community leadership. Watching these young leaders take ownership of food equity in their own neighborhoods is, quite simply, the best part of our work.

Building the Network

Trellis has been our "Community Anchor," connecting us to the local partners, growers, and advocates that make our 2026 planning possible. They represent the gold standard of how community-based organizations can collaborate with social enterprises to create a system that is stronger than the sum of its parts.
