Overview of Mobile Market Pilot

In early 2024, The Best Route (TBR) was contracted by Trellis for Tomorrow for an initial feasibility to bring a Mobile Market to the Pottstown region. Pottstown borough has numerous high need and low access census tracts along with limited public transportation. This combination of factors made the Mobile Market an appealing solution to the local needs of the Pottstown community.

After careful consideration and substantial initial investment, Trellis for Tomorrow then hired The Best Route to operate a 12 week pilot market. The mobile market would not only source seasonal local produce, but provide market access for the produce Trellis was already growing in a number of urban farms in the Pottstown area. Additionally, the market acted as a host site for 3 Trellis for Tomorrow youth, gaining valuable work experience in a controlled setting. 

To make this project a reality TBR sourced and built out a market vehicle, secured necessary permitting and licensing, and was responsible for procurement and all market operations. A special thank you to Espresso Yourself Cafe and The Hill School, for providing commissary access allowing the market to host several community food demonstrations.
